Mom Home Businesses that Don’t Spell “MOM”

I realize that browsing at the DTI (department of trade and industry) site is the first step that I have to take to register this business… this freelancing business that has served me well for a few months now. The good news about the dollar gaining strength inspired me to really take this writing gig business seriously. I mean, of course I was serious in the past, but increasing dollar value means more moolah for the little pinoy devil who guzzles milk and outgrows his clothes so fast!
Some of the things that I realized while I was looking through some pinoy yellow pages is this… one can easily detect which businesses are owned by women. From pickled foods, to retail outlets, to boutiques and crystal merchandise… it’s pretty obvious who’s running it. What really caught my eye are businesses that spell “MEN”… and these could easily be owned by women.
One of these businesses is the Tire Black business. I have often wondered what a tire black business does and why would people who already have attractive tires (view the collection at tire chains), want to blacken theirs some more. A close friend explained this to me and pointed out that I don’t own a car of my own so I probably won’t understand. He said, “mas guapo” (more handsome). it makes sense. I get it that if there was a way to return the color of faded clothes and blouses, i would go for it too.
