The Barista Ambition
One of my hobbies is to think up what if scenarios!
I know, I know… many of you would probably say “let the past go…” and I understand that completely. But you see, it’s a game for me. I have always believed the cliche about opportunity…
“when a door closes, another one (or a window) opens” … because I know first hand how, when a project fails, a better one is coming.
For example…
The Barista Ambition
When I graduated, the first job that I wanted was that of a “Barista”… you know, Starbucks, Coffee Beanery etc… Why? The baristas I have met are all articulate, smart and snappy. A lot of them confess that their aura of friendliness can be attributed to their intensive training in these coffee places. I wanted that too! I have always been a geek and I have spent more time with books than with people when I was a kid, so I figured, a barista job would improve my people skills.
Sadly, I wasn’t tall enough for them. And, I couldn’t blame them for rejecting me for my height. The cash register, the top of the espresso machines and the display cases are way high, and I can’t reach em. I was disappointed, but I accepted the rejection well.
Of course, I didn’t tell anyone then that I really wanted to be a barista because of the free coffee.
