Memories of High School: Three Things I Learned
I went to an exclusive school for girls during high school, and as can be expected, break discussions usually include boys, accessories, fashion, hair length and style, and skin problems.
For all teeners out there, let me just share some of the things I learned during high school, from my gal pals and our teachers who always spoke in a politically correct manner to avoid offending the budding feminists:
1. Guys like demure girls, but not TOO demure that they seem unreachable…
- Here’s the gist of this advice. Being demure means flirting “slightly” then claiming innocence when caught. You can look at a guy from the corner of your eye and smile when he notices, but you aren’t supposed to approach. This didn’t make any sense then, but now it’s clear… girls never want to be rejected too, so being demure gives them a way to deny liking the guy if it turns out he wasn’t interested.
2. Never use facial scrub when you have acne.
The little scrubbers in your foamy scrub get inside the inflamed pores, which become inflamed some more. What if you always have acne? You can avail of acne skin treatment from a licensed dermatologist or you can wash your face with very gentle foam (the ones that babies use).
What I did: I added lemon juice (from the fruit, not powdered) to the water I use for washing my face. Works like magic (after a month)!
3. High School Rivalries Never Go Away
Believe it!~ Regardless if it has been 5 years or ten years, you still won’t ‘add to friend list’ your old high school nemesis on Facebook.
