Mommy Worries: Children Obesity Problems?
While talking to several moms in my son’s nursery school (all excited new nursery-level stage moms stay around during classes to discuss parenting stuff, gossip etc. while waiting for the kids to finish their study session), I found that everyone’s scared of their kids gaining too much weight (or too little weight).
It’s funny, actually. We exchange feeding stories and try to figure out what is the best time to feed, which food are best for growing babies and what’s the ‘ideal’ weight for toddlers. Of course, in our own separate worlds, we are all correct and the discussion was just a way to prove that each of us has the best theory.
If you don’t know yet, moms are very opinionated when it comes to their kids. And, this is proof of this.
Anyway, we reached the conclusion that we have to control our kids’ eating habits if we don’t want them to gain too much weight in the future. An obese baby makes an obese adult was the conclusion. The funny thing is that we can do little when it comes to our kids’ “wants”.. This means that we can talk all day about proper diet but we will still be battling with “mom guilt” when our kids want chocolate.
There has to be a middle ground somewhere between spoiling our kids and making sure that they eat properly, lest we are prepared to spend our golden years thinking of ways to help them lose weight. Although with the way medicine is changing everything now, it’s not really difficult to find the best diet pill for losing weight.
However, prevention is still better than cure. So it’s best to start weight management now while they’re still very young.
