Christmas Gift Idea for the Housewife – La Femme au Foyer
There’s one French word I really liked, which I discovered while I was learning how to speak French. It’s Femme au Foyer. In English it means “house wife”, but the French equivalent is more fab-sounding don’t you think so?
It takes a really insightful husband or child to choose the perfect gift for a woman who hardly leaves the house. Being une femme au foyer myself, I can share some of the nice things that will make me happy during Christmas.
On top of my list is an apron.
Aprons were originally designed for girls who do housework, but the design has evolved through time. Now there are more frills on ordinary aprons, and the materials have changed. Give the beautiful homey femme of your life an apron, but make it more interesting by getting the apron personalized.
If your mom or wife has a motto or saying she always says out loud out of the blue, you can surprise her on Christmas eve by writing her words on her gift.
Chores vouchers.
Doing housework and cooking will inevitably lead to a more rotund appearance. Save your mom or wife the trouble of browsing and buying weight loss pills by giving her time to go to the gym. Print out some vouchers saying “will do the dishes for 2 days” or “will clean my room without being told for a year” and hand it over. She may use it anytime she wants, when she’s particularly stressed and she wants to relax.
