Pattern Baldness: Sons Get the Baldness Gene from Mom?
One of the stuff a new mom needs to know is the way the genes work so that she can prepare herself for the eventuality that her child will inherit some of the traits and the conditions she has. I’ve always wondered how this worked, which is why I studied genetics and whatever else will tell me about the “technical” side of being human.
One of the main concern among nommies (new mommies, shortened) is baldness in young guys. It seems that in recent years, more and more guys are going bald at a young age. While we can go back and forth all day talking about baldness being beautiful, and it’s the in thing with all the hot bald guys around, moms still want their sons to keep a full head of hair, and only go bald by choice. That, and maybe because we don’t want our sons to spend and risk taking hair loss treatment for men either.
So, is it automatic that your son will go bald if your hubby is bald?
If they experience the same environmental conditions, yes. If they have the same grooming habits, maybe. But pattern baldness (the hereditary gene) comes from MOMMY. I can hear some gasps, but it’s true. The kind of patchy balding that YOUR father had is likely to be inherited by your son.
