Having a Nursing Student at Home
If you have a student in the house and he’s actively trying to review for the boards. I remember when hubby started taking up nursing, his terminology changed a bit, and he often uses technical terms at home. Being acquainted with some of the terms because of my own college course, I don’t mind, but to some people, this might seem strange.
if you really think about the medical industry, it’s not all about being noble and saving lives. It virtually changes a person’s way of thinking. I’m sure the hubby didn’t know about spirometer, IV therapy or even the nursing process before he got into nursing school, but now he spews those terms like it’s normal to do so.
One more thing is the way my hubby’s appetite never changed even after a month or so of working in a hospital and dealing with emergency room patients. It’s like a part of his brain shuts down the gory details of his emergency room stay when he gets home and all we have to eat is tomato sauce-laden meat. This was actually what I was worried about in the past. I worry that he might not be able to eat much because of the many icky things he encounters in the hospital.
But to my relief, he’s ok. He’s not too ‘medical’ at home, and he can still eat my cooking even after spending a couple of days in the wards.
