How to Decorate a Beach Lodge – Survivor Style
After more than ten years of Survivor, I’m beginning to think the concept is getting stale. I and the hubby got to brainstorming about new reality show concepts and I thought about Survivor Style Decorating. How difficult is that?
Contestants can decorate a small beach lodge with items they will find in a Survivor camp. I would do it this way…
Grass cloth, baskets, rattan, and wicker in natural tones will not only fit the ambiance of an isolated virgin island, it will also add another layer of texture to the small beach lodge. Besides, not many fabrics will survive the harsh saline breeze that wafts inside the cottage 24/7. Fabrics other than these will probably erode faster . These materials may also be considered for wall coverings, cornice boards, folding screens, ottomans, and more furniture.
For outdoor cushions, I would go for the watertight ones. Sure, they’re not always as comfortable as the plush, lazy-boy style cushions, but they’re bound to get wet when the thunderstorms come. Artwork on walls need not be too ornate. Hanging prints with stylized leaf designs, exotic looking palm trees, and jungle animals will probably fit if they’re framed with bamboo. Functional artwork (pots, pans, food server ladles etc.) will also work, especially if the kitchen area will also double as the living room, the den and the dining room.
