If in Doubt, Throw it Out (or Donate it)
Let’s face it; many people have more than they need. When we fail to get rid of items while adding more, we end up with clutter. That’s when we may want to consider donating unused items that are cluttering our home rather than adding them to the already full landfills. You can donate the mess and have a more comfortable home after the mess is gone.
The old saying goes, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Keep this in mind when you finally decide to get rid of some of the clutter in your home. If you have items that you no longer want, love, or need, you may find giving them away is a perfect option.
The great thing about these groups is that people offer items they have and someone else can ask for them. These include rustic furniture that other people could paint, refurbish and use inside their homes. No money changes hands because everything is given away without cost.
Check with your local church for a list of places that would accept good, slightly used items for donation. Call each one and ask them if they are accepting donations and their procedure for doing so. If you give them a little bit of advance notice, they may be willing to pick up items rather than you having to deliver them.
